Mar 31, 2021

Surrounded by beautiful beaches, perfect weather, and exceptional dining & entertainment options, there’s not much we’re missing out on here at the Shoreline. But sometimes the need for adventure calls anyway, and in that case, we’re lucky that there are a number of incredible easy day trips to take from Miami. Whether looking for a nature-filled escape, exciting new restaurants, or unparalleled shopping, these spots have it all. Read ahead to learn more about our 5 favorite spring day trips from North Miami!

Fort Lauderdale, FL

Less than 30-miles from North Miami, Fort Lauderdale is the perfect getaway for a change of scenery. The relaxing oceanfront city is filled with 5 star resorts, top tier restaurants, and must-see cultural institutions, not to mention its 23-miles of golden beaches. Spend the first part of the day exploring the Bonnet House Museum & Gardens, a sprawling estate once owned by artists Frederic and Evelyn Bartlett. Step back into the early 20th century while taking in the unique architecture, elaborate gardens, and on site art gallery. In the evening, head over to swanky rooftop bar Sparrow on the top floor of The Delmar hotel for handcrafted cocktails and unbeatable ocean views.

Key Largo, FL

The first in the chain of Florida Keys, Key Largo is bustling with activities and tropical paradise fun. The self-proclaimed “Dive Capital of the World,” no visit to Key Largo is complete without an exploration of the area’s many reefs and underwater treasures. John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park is a fantastic spot to enjoy diving, snorkeling, or even taking in the reef view from a glass-bottom boat tour. After working up an appetite, grab a bite to eat at the well known no-frills seafood restaurant and fish market Fish House.

West Palm Beach, FL

With its glamorous reputation, West Palm Beach is known for high-end shops and restaurants, as well as a thriving cultural scene. A roughly 1.5 hour drive from the Shoreline, find multiple retail and entertainment districts in downtown West Palm, including Clematis Street and Rosemary Square. The world-class Norton Museum of Art hosts an impressive permanent art collection as well as an exciting rotation of new exhibitions. Afterwards, pop by trendy downtown Italian restaurant Hullabaloo for delicious wood-fired pizzas and exceptional cocktails.

Boca Raton, FL

About an hour north of the Shoreline, discover the laid-back luxury of Boca Raton. Visit the Morikami Museum & Japanese Gardens for a wonderful collection of Japanese art and expansive, beautiful gardens. A stop at nearby Butterfly World also offers an enchanting escape within their botanical paradise. Then head to the Boca Raton Museum of Art for a great collection of contemporary and modern art. Finish the day with a meal at fresh and delicious local eatery Farmer’s Table.

Bimini, Bahamas

When you need to feel truly transported, Bimini is the closest point in the Bahamas to the US (only 48 nautical miles from Florida’s eastern coast) and is easily accessible via shuttle ferry service. After arriving on the pristine, white sand beaches of Bimini, get started exploring all this tropical wonderland has to offer. Feeling particularly adventurous? As the world’s third largest barrier reef, a diving excursion will take you through shipwrecks, caves, blue holes, and up-close encounters with sharks and other fascinating sea life. Enjoy a fresh seafood lunch at local gem Stuart’s Conch Salad Stand, then toast to a perfect day at beach side dive bar Island House.
