February and March are Health & Wellness months in Miami, meaning it’s the perfect time to check out all the amazing health and fitness resources in our area! This month and next, there’s a ton of local activities geared towards promoting better well-being: from outdoor exercise classes and wellness events, to ways to stay healthy and refreshed right here at the Shoreline. Read ahead to learn more about some of the exciting events on hand for Health & Wellness months in Miami!
The Bass hosts Wellness Wednesdays, free and open to the public, every second Wednesday of the month from 9-10am. Join fitness instructor and personal trainer Kira Alvarado for a high energy class customized to fit the needs of the group. The fun, challenging workout will wind through the museum’s Art Outside exhibition as part of a wellness circuit tour. Spots can be reserved ahead of time here!
For total rest and rejuvenation right here at home, head to Laguna Solé for a relaxing afternoon of lounging at our sparkling 7-acre lagoon. Bring a good book to enjoy by the crystal clear water or just enjoy taking in the luxury of the gorgeous private beach. Laguna Solé is also ideal for a range of activities, from paddle boarding and kayaking to scuba diving and swimming.
Instructor Debi Lee leads a 45-minute yoga class under the stars at the beautiful Fairchild Botanic Garden. Enter the new moon phase with some re-centering and re-charging in a Covid-safe environment. The nighttime yoga class takes place Saturday, February 27th from 7-8:00PM and tickets are open to both members and non-members--be sure to book in advance here!
ADAPT Foundation hosts Mindful Mayhem every second Tuesday of the month right here in North Miami. The 50-minute session is geared towards supporting the well-being of those in our community caring for little ones. Each month, certified personal trainers and wellness experts will address common topics among women, caregivers, and children. A $10 donation is suggested and kids are welcome to join! Book your spot in advance here.
Nearby Oleta River State Park is host to a variety of outdoor activities, with tons of excellent ways to hit the trails or get out on the water. Rent a mountain bike to explore miles of off-road cycling or grab a kayak for the day to paddle through mangrove trails and into the serene beauty of North Biscayne Bay. Want to try something a little different but still totally Miami? Book a spot in Oleta River Outdoor Center’s Paddle Board Yoga class, available every Sunday at 9am!
