Even though July in Miami usually brings some rainy days, there’s no shortage of ways to enjoy summer here post-lockdown! With exciting festivals, community bike rides, immersive art experiences, and much more, Miami is definitely geared up for some serious summer fun. It’s mango season here in Miami! One of the best places to celebrate the delicious tropical fruit is at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, where they’ve been paying tribute to the South Florida staple for the last 25 years. Throughout the month of July, Fairchild Garden is hosting a number of mango-centric events, including a Mango Dinner on July 30th helmed by esteemed chef Cindy Hutson. Head to the Olympia Theater in downtown Miami for an immersive art experience featuring the works of the great Dutch painter Vincent Van Gogh. The exhibit presents more than 300 of the iconic artist’s works in the form of breathtaking digital projections, welcoming visitors to step inside the work of art itself. “Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience” also includes a virtual reality component taking viewers on a 10-minute retrospective of the artist’s life. Summertime means Olympics time! If you’re looking for a place near The Shoreline to watch the festivities, head to Duffy’s Sports Grill in Sunny Isles for a friendly crowd and tasty American-inspired bar bites. Tomorrow morning, join the MDD X RAPHA Community Bike Ride for an energetic start to the weekend. Leaving out of Jungle Plaza in the Design District, registration opens at 6:30am for a 7:00am departure. Cruise along the Venetian Causeway, pass through Brickell and Deering Estate, and end back in the Design District. Find more information here.
This Saturday marks National Tequila Day in the US, and what better way to celebrate than by visiting one of the many excellent Mexican restaurants here in Miami. Near The Shoreline, check out Cheen Huaye in Aventura for delicious Mexican fare and a Tequila Bar filled with specialty varieties of premium tequila. Or cheers the day at Coyo Taco in Wynwood with a yummy margarita and plenty of tacos.
