Independence Day is just around the corner and 4th of July celebrations are returning this year in a big way! So many of the fantastic ways we love to celebrate the holiday are back, and this weekend is shaping up to be filled with the fun summer traditions we know and love. For more info on what Miami has in store this July 4th weekend, and how to enjoy the festivities, read ahead!
Though fireworks displays in Miami are somewhat pared back this year, there are still great spots to get your July 4th fireworks fix. Starting Sunday at 7pm, the Town of Miami Lakes and its Cultural Committee will host their 18th annual Fourth of July Fireworks Show. In addition to dazzling pyrotechnics, the event will feature a large LED Wall Screen, a Sound Wave Entertainment Vehicle, and food trucks. General admission tickets are free to this family-friendly event…find more info here.
The City of Aventura will also commemorate the holiday with a fireworks display best viewed from any location along Country Club Drive. The patriotic and memorable evening will begin on Sunday at 9pm. Find more information here.
In addition to being a great spot to catch Aventura’s fireworks show, JW Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort & Spa is home to a special 4th of July celebration. 4th on the Green is a daylong, family-friendly event featuring a DJ, face painting, a bounce house, and food trucks--not to mention unlimited adult beverages for the grownups in attendance. Find more information and reserve tickets here.
This year, PBS will stream America’s Independence Day celebration, entitled A Capitol Fourth, to millions of viewers across the country and to troops watching across the globe. The annual evening of entertainment features performances by a slew of notable talent-- including Vanessa Williams, Jimmy Buffett, and the National Symphony Orchestra--and culminates in a fireworks display of epic proportions. Check local listings for show times.
Whether staking out a spot poolside here at The Shoreline or hosting elsewhere, nothing says Happy 4th like a classic holiday barbecue shared with friends and family. In addition to the traditional menu of hot dogs, hamburgers, and corn on the cob, try throwing in a new dish like this Grilled Baby Potato Salad--the yummy twist on potato salad replaces the recipe’s call for mayo with a lighter vinegar and olive oil option. Find more dish ideas for the quintessential July 4th cookout here.
On Sunday, head to Pérez Art Museum Miami for a day of July 4th festivities. Sponsored by Perrier, the museum will be host to a full lineup of events, including live music by Lemon City Trio, art-making activities, BBQ and drink specials at Verde restaurant and bar, art tours, and more! Find more information and reserve tickets here.
